Am I still here?.. Wow, yes, I am! Brilliant.
It's high time I wrote something for the journal not to be archivized. Or how do you call it here, on LJ? )))
So the whole world is laughing at our 'elections', I suppose, and probably you're waiting something about it now.
I'm sorry. This isn't a political journal, so nothing on it, apart from the fact that - we
are not laughing XD
Actually, I'd like to speak on translations.
Well, I have to start with mentioning this huge recent event in the Russian community - the Fandom Kombat
, a challenge, in which all the most active Russian fandoms participated. It was in the form of a competition - you create something, you vote for something, and the work - and the fandom - which gets the most votes wins. That's it.
So, you wouldn't believe who has won. Or will you?
I'll start with the first place, not to keep you waiting. It has been taken by the Dragon Age
fandom, which is not surprising: it is massive, it's got so many brilliant writers, artists, translators - and don't forget devoted fans!
The silver medal went to the Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
fandom - so young, but so active, they absolutely deserve it!
And the third place was taken by the Final Fantasy
fandom, which actually is a surprise, 'cause it is not so large, as the DA, and not so active, as the KHR fandoms. But they did it.
It was a team of absolutely different persons, liking different Final Fantasies, talented in different spheres - but they made such a good team, with such a friendly, helpful and welcoming environment. It was a pleasure to work with all those wonderful people.
And it was a pleasure to find out that we are the third among thirty other fandoms! The FF managed to leave many rivals behind, for example, the Kuroshitsuji
, or the D.Gray Man
, or the Doctor Who
, or even the Star Trek
fandoms - which are very respectful and talented.
So... under the competition, we translated much. A lot. A huge amount of fanfiction, actually. And, dear writers, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for having got the permission to translate and not providing you with the link to the translation. This is my fault, and the reason is not that I forgot, no! The problem is that the communities we posted the translations to are mostly closed for non-registered or possibly even non-Russian visitors, sometimes due to the content rating considerations, sometimes for some other reasons.
I promise that when I find a rightful place where to post the translations publicly, I'll let you know and send you the link. This is actually about the fanfics by Icedark Elf
, Tabitha Dornoc
, and justira
. I'm very sorry if I haven't mentioned somebody, but when I gather all the links and systematize them, surely everyone will be credited.
Actually, the most interesting work was on "turntable" by CaideSin
. There were three people translating it and two more people supervising, helping and beta-reading. You can definitely say that the whole active part of the Russian Kingdom Hearts
fandom was working on it!
So, what else can I say. Now a friend of mine and I are working on "Imperfect Tense" by Hades' Phoenix
, and that's the largest project - a fictional one, I mean - in my life!
I also am going to ask for permissions from The Writer Triumphant
Well... probably that's enough for a post written only not to let one's journal be closed, isn't it?
Thank you for your attention,
see you later!
